Ivan ŠoštaričIvan Šoštarič was born in 1969. He completed his secondary education, and later his university studies at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana with prof. Ciril Škerjanec, where he graduated and completed his Master's degree. As a soloist, he played with the Orchestra of the Academy of Music and the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. He also participated in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, and recorded music for the Slovenian Television and various other musical publishers. He has been employed at the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra as the Cello Assistant Principal since 1995. Ivan Šoštarič has also played in various chamber ensembles: All Capone štrajh trio, Ljubljanski kvartet violončel, Kvartet Yost, as well as in various chamber orchestras: Pro arte, Slovenski komorni orkester, Slovenicum… He worked as a teacher and mentor at the Vič – Rudnik music school and the European Youth Orchestra (YMSO) and composed several musical pieces for small ensembles.
